1. FANTASTIC RATES
Rooms, in this so-called low-season, are in some places almost half the price of what they’ll be, come January.
2. GREAT OFFERS & DISCOUNTS
A number of our featured TLC properties make great offers in this run-up to the much busier times. Stay 4 pay 3 or Stay 3 pay 2 offers can regularly be found through October and November.
3. MORE AVAILABILITY & CHOICE
Sri Lanka is unquestionably a popular spot these days and in peak times there can be a reservations stampede for the smartest spots. The pre-Christmas months offer a little more choice. Samudra Beach is one of our very favourite beach villas and still has good availability through October and November.
4. INCREDIBLE WILDLIFE
On the eastern side of the island there’s more chance of rain post-September and though safari-goers traditionally love the dry-season, with animals gathering at dwindling water holes, the rains offer a different attraction. Gal Oya National Park is stunningly beautiful through October and November; an incredible location for birders and also elephants at this time of year. Gal Oya Lodge is the perfect base.
5. QUIETER PARKS
Yala National Park deserves its world renown given the high concentration of Leopard and Mugger Crocodile to be found there. Inevitably that status means the crowds do come. The Leopard Trails guides are truly expert at getting away from the busier spots and showcasing the best of the park. Pre-December that experience is even greater with the park at its quietest.
6. DESERTED BEACHES
October and November are the perfect time to get on board a luxury catamaran and search the coastline for empty golden beaches.
