Culinary Ceylon have created an amazing curated culinary experience in the heart of Colombo. It includes a 7 to 8 Course ‘tasting menu’ of delectable, authentic Sri Lankan dishes, whilst learning the history behind Sri Lankan cuisine from passionate ‘curators’ and get to sample food created by an award-winning local head chef.

Expect to taste dishes such as an original burgher lumpries; a local twist on Indonesian lempur introduced by Dutch colonisers, the island’s favourite street food Kottu roti that originated on the east coast and distinctively flavoured northern country style favourites such as thosai, idly and vadai, prepared using family recipes.

For us the real highlights is being hosted and listening to knowledgeable, passionate and well-spoken hosts will meet you on arrival and be on hand to explain the rich history behind each course, how to eat it, what type of ingredients are used and to share stories and anecdotes surrounding the island’s exotic cuisine.

Located (near Republic Bar) on Hospital Street, Old Fort, Colombo; an area steeped in colonial history, now buzzing with bars and restaurants.

Culinary Ceylon position themselves as a hub for authentic Sri Lankan culinary experiences as opposed to a traditional restaurant. To find them on Hospital Street, search (with a keen eye!) for the ‘petti kade’ (a typical urban roadside kiosk seen across the island, selling essential groceries stacked on shelving made of discarded timber). Walk through the ‘petti kade’ and enter Culinary Ceylon to start your journey..
